Abstract: Representatives of the NZ forestry community have completed a utilitarian set of policies for the future of forestry in New Zealand. The ultimate, substantive Policy document is in the hands of the Coalition Government; its adoption temporarily delayed by preparations for the 2020 election and a coronavirus Pandemic. It is proposed it will be made widely and freely available to the nation – when it is adopted. This paper describes the rigorous processes the Project has faced in its gestation and evolution. Aswell, it sets out some of the more profound forest policy features that have been included for pragmatic reasons. The Forest Policy Project (FPP) envelops all of New Zealand forests – and all persons influenced by them.
