Abstract: The dispute resolution profession has developed considerably around the world in recent years and the profession in New Zealand has been no exception. In the past there has perhaps been a tendency to assume that litigation, and consequently looking to the Courts, is the normal mechanism. However, there are a number of dispute resolution processes that parties can revert to. Traditionally, they have not been fully understood or utilised within the forestry sector.
