Abstract: Registered valuers undertaking the valuation of rural land are guided by Codes, Standards and Guidance Papers of the Property Institute of New Zealand and the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV). The New Zealand Institute of Valuers ethics along with the International Valuation Standards (IVS) are mandatory for a valuer undertaking a valuation. Departures are allowed in certain circumstances where specific legislative, regulatory or other authoritative requirements must be followed and they differ from some of the requirements within IVS.
