Abstract: Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) makes up almost 6% of New Zealand’s plantation forest and, with over 110,000 ha planted, is the second most common speciesafter radiata pine. Approximately one quarter of the resource is located in the central North Island, with the remainder being found mainly in Nelson, Canterbury, Otagoand Southland.
