Student numbers rise as economy struggles

Abstract: The first term of the academic year is now over. This has been a busy time with student enrolments, staff appointments and the commencement of course redevelopment programmes for 2010. Student enrolments are again up this year, not only for our school but also for our Institute as a whole. I understand this is a trend affecting many other New Zealand tertiary institutions this year. At least there appears to be one benefit of the worsening economic situation in which we find our economy.
