Abstract: Three trials were established in one- and two-year-old radiata pine stands, following toppling after a severe storm, with the aim of evaluating various treatments to correct the toppling. The treatments included straightening the trees and turfing, tying up with string, staking, and topping at different heights, some with or without crown lightening through wind-proof pruning. None of the remedial treatments was particularly effective, and it may be better to focus on measures to prevent toppling.
