Abstract: This paper discusses the activities of the 3-year Value Recovery Project of the New Zealand Research Institute, which aims to provide forest owners, sawmillers and remanufacturers with strategic information to maximize returns from the rapidly expanding harvest - tackling the issues of maximizing returns from processing and marketing 'new crop' products. The activities includes resource assessment, processing - both primary and secondary, and promotion and market access.
