Abstract: A paper presented at the 1983 Pacific Science Congress, reviewing the procedures and models developed in New Zealand (mainly by the Forest Service's Mensuration Project Team) for forecasting yield and monitoring production in the 500 000 ha of exotic state forests (mainly Pinus radiata, with some Pseudotsuga menziesii). Elements described include the stand record system, the management inventory, growth models and permanent sample plots, the forest estate model, the preharvest inventory, and outturn monitoring systems.
