Abstract: This paper summarises the material presented, and the discussion which took place at a seminar held in Christchurch from 27 February to 1 March 1978. Its purpose was to examine the current state of forest management practice in Canterbury, to review recent research results, and to discuss the rationale for future forest management in the region.
