Abstract: Forestry is an amalgam of many diverse disciplines, and employs a wide range of specialists and generalists. The motivation of the various groups — forest scientists, foresters, rangers, technicians and forest labourers — is discussed briefly, together with the relationships between them. Management is discerned as a personal matter between man and, man, but an organization can be administered so that men can find optimum job satisfaction. This involves proper training, well-defined job areas, delegation of day-to-day administration leading to responsibility, challenging job content, prospects for advancement, sound methods for selection for advancement, fair relativities between groups, and effective communication, both vertical and horizontal.
