Abstract: Exotic trees are being established in the Branch catchment in central Marlborough in an attempt to provide seed sources for the natural reforestation of eroding mountain land. In the four-year period 1965-1968, group planting, hand sowing, and aerial seeding were carried out within a gross area of nearly 13,600 acres. This paper describes the work and the techniques used, and gives a preliminary account of results achieved so far.
