NZIF will be calling for nominations for the positions described below on the 1st February 2020. This earlier notice is to allow members to consider possible nominations over the Xmas and New Year period.
Council
Calling for nominations for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and six Councillors to make up the NZIF Council to serve for 2 years from 1 June 2020 until the earlier of 31st May 2022 or the 2022 NZIF AGM.
Registration Board
Calling for nominations, under NZIF Rules 133.2 &133.3 two positions on the Registration Board to serve for four years from 1 June 2020 until the earlier of 31st May 2024 or the 2024 NZIF AGM.
- One position to be elected by Registered Members
- One position to be elected by NZIF members
Fellows
Calling for nominations for Fellows. A Fellow is a member of the Institute who has achieved eminence in the profession.
NZ Journal of Forestry Rates Increase
The subscription rate for the NZIF New Zealand Journal of Forestry will be increasing from 1st January 2020.
The cost to subscribe to the New Zealand Journal of Forestry (4 issues per year) is as follows:
- Individual Subscribers - $NZ105.00 (includes GST) $NZ135.00 Overseas Subscribers
- Institutions Subscribers - $NZ165.00 (includes GST) $NZ205.00 Overseas Subscribers

Any member of the NZIF has the right to object to a new application or an application for review. Any objection should be lodged with the Registrar registrar@nzif.org.nz within 20 working days of the first appearance (16 December 2019) of the notice in this newsletter, specifying the grounds for the objection.

Emissions Trading Reform Bill introduced
There is an an extension to the deadline for the ETS Forestry regulations submissions to the 15th January 2020.
The Climate Change Response (Emissions Trading Reform) Amendment Bill 2019 is also currently progressing through Parliament. The Bill covers the major decisions about changes to the ETS, such as introducing averaging accounting for newly registered forests. The changes in the Forestry Regulations will provide the operational detail for how the policy changes in the Bill will work in practice.
If you are interested in commenting on policy changes, there will be an opportunity to make a submission at the Environment Select Committee.

Christmas Hours
The NZIF office will be closing Thursday 19th December and will re-open the office Wednesday 8th January 2020.
