Continued effort is required of everyone to reduce the number and severity of injuries. In addition, improved health and safety often results in improved productivity. THE ACT The purpose of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (the HSE Act) is the prevention of harm to employees and others. After a decade there is no significant change to accident statistics. In May 2003 substantive amendments to the HSE Act were effected that will assist in achieving safer places of work.
