Abstract: EXPANSION OF PLANTED FOREST AREA New-land planting As at 1 April 2019, the total net stocked area of planted forest was estimated to be 1.697 million hectares. Including the area of land currently awaiting replanting after harvesting (51,609 hectares), makes the estimated total forest area 1.75 million hectares. The area reported for 2019 was a decrease of 7,910 hectares (0.5 percent) from the revised 2018 net stocked area of 1.704 million hectares. Year-on-year changes in the net stocked area can be caused by new information, updated returns from respondents, and changes in land use decisions by forest land-owners
