Abstract: Outside of Europe, the recent rise in the application of a relatively new engineered wood product, crosslaminated timber (CLT), has come at a time when its sustainability properties make it an attractive choice for commercial and residential building construction. From the perspective of building industry professionals who have gained experience with this option, it brings considerable advantages. Internationally, the attributes of CLT and related products in mitigating climate change continue to broaden its appeal. Now a growing number of building professionals in New Zealand are using CLT positively in a range of building projects.
