Abstract: At the 13th World Forestry Congress, convened last October in Argentina, in front of a packed audience of several thousand delegates, Michael Jack (Theme Leader in Low Carbon Technologies) spoke on the use of largescale forests for bioenergy. He presented an invited paper authored by himself and Peter Hall. Michael and Peter’s presentation was entitled “Large-scale Bioenergy from Forests: Land-use, environmental and economic implications.” Their paper was given during a special forum on Energy and Forests and bought together a number of the results from their Bioenergy Options work.
