Abstract: Radiata pine, while by far the most common plantation conifer grown in the southern hemisphere, has certain limitations in terms of product performance in some regions. This is particularly the case for products requiring high stiffness (Ivkovic et al.. 2007), but is equally applicable to appearance products (Beauregard et al., 1999). This has major implications for growing export-oriented plantations.
