Abstract: An overview of legislations such as the Hazardous Substances and New Organism Act 1996 (HSNO), Environmental Risk Management Authority and Biosecurity Act 1993 (BSA) together with their purpose and impacts, which are responsible for biosecurity in New Zealand, is presented. The manufacture and use of pesticides, and pest management strategies governed by HSNO and BSA are discussed.
