Abstract: The principles of incursion response to pests and diseases, and the key literature on which they are based, are briefly outlined. The major components of incursion response include: detection, evaluation, response decision, operation, monitoring and review. Although the structure discussed here has particular relevance to forest pest response in New Zealand, it also has wider application to all types of exotic pest incursions. The paper is supported by a more detailed document that is available on request.
