Abstract: Results are presented of a survey, in New Zealand, on the different types of computer software which are usually used for the forestry analysis and modelling applications such as database, growth and yield forecasting, forest inventories, estate, financial analysis, and geographical information systems. The factors in software choice include cost, ease of use, ease of learning, ease of modification, backup support and industrial acceptance.
