Abstract: An extensive survey of the health of both plantation and amenity Pinus radiata in California was carried out. The primary aim was to assess the extent and importance of Bursaphelenchus xylophilus there. From the results of this survey and an extensive literature review we conclude that Pinus radiata growing in its natural range or as an exotic species is under no particular threat from B. xylophilus.
