Abstract: In the next three and a half decades a fourfold increase could occur in the annual availability of exotic roundwood supplies. This paper examines the capital (private and public) required over and above the existing capital slock to utilise this resource in a number of different ways, and relates it to the likely total capital formation required in New Zealand over the period. The additional capital needed to cope with the increased roundwood supply is estimated as less than 3% of capital formation over the period. This requirement is, however, heavily concentrated in the later part of the forecast period.
