The possible effects on fishes of eucalypt enrichment of New Zealnd beech forests

Abstract: Comparisons were made of the fish faunas of streams draining through Eucalyptus-dominated forests in Tasmania and southeastern Australia, and the faunas of streams draining beech (Nothofagus spp.) forests on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. These suggest thai enrichment of the New Zealand beech forests with Eucalyptus is unlikely to have harmful effects on the stream fish faunas there. Species in beech forest streams are in most instances the same as, or closely related to, species that occur in Australian Eucalyptus forest streams
