Abstract: Planning the utilisation of future forests requires different techniques from those used to plan the utilisation of an existing forest resource. If the end-use of a forest is defined well before utilisation, management for a specific crop can be undertaken and this can have a significant effect on wood cost, particularly pulpwood. Consequently, considerable attention should be given to a desirable structure for the future forest processing industry.
