Abstract: A detailed account, concluding that present national strategies for increasing wood production in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands, add up to a consistent combined strategy in relation to world markets, and involve no serious anomalies within Australasia. Certain improvements, however, are recommended to improve the contribution that an expansion of wood production would make to social welfare within each country, and within Australasia as a whole.
