Abstract: The variation in growth of radiata pine on different sites in New Zealand is discussed. Comparison is made of tree mortality in the pumice region of the North Island with that experienced in other parts of the country. Some observations are made on the incidence of malformation and on the yield to be expected from unthinned 30 year old stands.
