Jon Dey Award
In September 2015, the Board of the NZIF Foundation agreed with the family of the late Jon Dey to establish the Jon Dey Award. Details are as follows:
Note that: The Jon Dey Memorial Award has been discontinued and will not be offered in 2021 or subsequent years.

Purpose: |
To assist research projects in the areas of work study or new technology aimed at improving forest engineering and harvest productivity. Projects need to be regarded as likely to be of practical application in New Zealand forestry. The research project must be undertaken at a recognised scientific institute or tertiary education institute in New Zealand under qualified supervision, and with demonstrated support from those working in the field of forest engineering and harvesting. |

Funding: |
Funds for the award arose from donations from the Dey family and Jon’s work, Rotary and NZIF colleagues. Rather than establishing a separate fund within the Foundation accounts, the Foundation Board made a commitment to the Dey family to make the agreed awards. |
