Valuation Standards
The purpose of the NZIF Forest Valuation Standards is to provide a set of standards and guidelines for the physical and financial description, and the valuation of commercial plantation forests in New Zealand. They are applicable to plantation forests of any size and ownership.
These standards apply to a range of purposes of forest valuation.
Authority
The NZIF Forest Valuation Standard has been prepared under the authority of the New Zealand Institute of Forestry (NZIF), the body representing forestry professionals in New Zealand.
Users
These standards have been developed primarily for Members of the NZIF engaged in the physical and financial description, and the valuation, of a forest resource for internal or external reporting. They have also been developed with a view to other professional bodies (e.g. ICANZ, NZIV) and regulatory authorities (e.g. Securities Commission) requiring use of these standards.
Access to Standard
Electronic access to the standard is available through this website.
NZIF members can access and use the standard for their own personal and professional use, but are requested not to extend that use to others.
Non-members, companies and other entities will be granted access to the standard at a cost, please contact the NZIF Administrator for more details. Such access does not include permission to distribute copies (electronic or printed) of the document to others.
Binding on NZIF members
The NZIF has resolved that all Members shall be bound by these standards, or shall disclose departures, when preparing forest valuations.
