Abstract: Fronting a renewed forestry focus In February 2018, I was asked to step into a temporary role to establish a new government forestry agency in order to implement the Government’s One Billion Trees programme. At the time, I was Director of Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Policy, and having spent six years in that role was beginning to cast around for my next challenge.
