Invercargill City Forests Award - Award has been discontinued (2019)

In the 2017/18 year, the Board of the NZIF Foundation agreed to establish the Invercargill City Forests award using funds provided by Invercargill City Forests Ltd.

Purpose:

To assist residents of Invercargill City in studies, research or travel in an area which benefits forestry

Funding:

Donation of NZD 5,000/year for a minimum of three consecutive years from Invercargill City Forests Ltd.

Size and term of Award

Flexible.  The Foundation can make one or more awards each year up to a combined total of $5,000.  There is flexibility to award scholarships, grants, prizes, etc.

Accounting

No separate fund has been created in the Foundation’s accounts.  Rather a commitment to make awards so long as funds remain, will be included in the Foundation’s accounts.

Applications

Applications should be made in writing and provide the following information (tailored to the nature of what is being sought):

  • The applicant’s name, qualifications and contacts;
  • Evidence the applicant is an Invercargill City resident (or has recently been a resident)
  • Description of how it is proposed to use the funds (“the project”);
  • Details of how an award will be of benefit to forestry;
  • Names and details of any collaborators in the project (where relevant);
  • When the project was, or is to be started and the expected completion date;
  • Amount sought and how it will be used;
  • Details of the project budget including other sources of funding (where relevant);
  • The names and contact details of two referees, stating their relationship to both the applicant and the project.
